Colours Centre for Learning - Autism
Colours Learning Education Trust (CLET) was started with a strong desire to create an environment for an autistic individuals so that they can learn to adapt to social challenges.
There are several institutions which aim to achieve this. However, founders of this trust, through their own experience, realized that those institutions have strong focus on tasks and only aim to provide vocational and repetitive trainings to these individuals. The intrinsic abilities in these individuals is ignored in favor of creating adults which can carry out a set of tasks which could gain these individuals gainful employment for the short term.
CLET and it’s founders disagree with this approach. Given the rate of obsolescence of low level tasks in today’s world due to technology advancements, such instillment of repetitive skills is likely to be very short lived in helping these individuals. When technology advancements obsolete the tasks taught to these individuals, these individuals will find themselves with no place to go to.
