HILTON SPECIAL SCHOOL
The School was formed in 1961 and was subsequently registered in 1963, to provide education and services to children with physical disabilities and hearing impairments. The Hilton Special School currently caters to 80 boys and girls. Although the children possess varied degrees of disability, the fully equipped environment offers accessibility to all. The school boasts a multicultural and multi-religious student body that promotes respect, non-discrimination and social harmony. The students range from 6 years and older of which approximately 70 per cent come from the low income socio economic group. The Head Teacher and a team of dedicated professionals consisting of 10 teachers and one teacher’s aide look after the Hilton Special School. The school offers primary education (Classes 1-8) as well as pre- vocational training. The national primary school curriculum is followed by the school with specialized teaching strategies, allowing for modifications to the school curriculum. Computer aided teaching is another innovative method adopted for engaging student learning as well as develop their knowledge in information technology.
