JEEVAN JYOTI SCHOOL
A special school for physically and mentally challenged children. “Jeevan Jyoti” was started by(Rotary’s) INNER WHEEL CLUB OF DHANBAD on14th Sep ’89 with only one child. At present student strength of Jeevan Jyoti is 95. We are now providing teaching and training to 46 hearing impaired children, 47 intellectually impaired and 2 visually impaired children. These students are very active both in vocational and sports activities.However, mention may be that our children have done well in state level & National Paralympics Championship games held at Bangalore, Jaipur and Chandigarh. We won 7 Gold, 10 Silver and 8 Bronze Medals for Jharkhand state.The school has also been awarded an award for excellent work in social services by the deputy commissioner of Dhanbad on the occasion of Independence Day in 2009.
