LYNETTE DAVIES
Lynette Davies was keen to work within a field that can assist children and adults to learn and communicate effectively. She started working as a one to one for children with autism and challenging behaviours in 2010. Not yet knowing Applied Behaviour Analysis existed; she studied her BSc in Applied Psychology at the University of South Wales. This resulted in her choosing to focus her dissertation thesis on an area of applied behaviour analysis – Relational Frame Theory – to which was then published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology. Finally finding her passion for the field of ABA, Lynette continued her education to study her MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis at the University of South Wales, and furthered her education to become a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).<br /> During BCBA supervision, Lynette worked in various settings such as special needs primary school, primary and secondary pupil referral units, and clinic settings, working alongside professionals such as teachers, therapists, students, SALT and OT. Lynette was trained by supervisors and consultants on ABA home programmes as a behavioural therapist for young children with autism. This involved gaining experience in teaching functional and independent living skills, social interactions, communication and speech, and school integration. Lynette felt so fortunate that she had found the field she loves and to appreciate what some may consider small, but is a huge skill for that individual. Lynette is looking forward to continuing her learning and experience in ABA therapy, and has a special interest in gaining more experience in Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), derived relational responding, and increasing the awareness of ABA within schools.
