Mirema School
Mirema School was officially founded in 1998 with only 3 children. It quickly started catering for children who are differently-abled when a mother, desperate to find a school that would accept her autistic son came through the school gates. She met Mrs. Mutegi and gave her an account of her son’s challenges. Although Mrs. Mutegi did not know one thing about autism, she asked the mother to leave her son with her for a few day. The Differently-Abled unit was born, making Mirema School the first school in Nairobi to accommodate children with learning difficulties.
