The primary aim of the school is to provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment, where pupils: feel valued; are encouraged and supported to acquire new knowledge and skills; strive to be the very best that they can be.Parkview School is a controlled co-educational school providing specialist nursery, primary and post-primary education for pupils with severe learning difficulties and those with a range of educational needs that can best be met within a special school environment. The current school enrolment is 160 pupils in the age range 3-19 years. The present school building, located on the outskirts of the city of Lisburn, was opened in 1996. A specially designed Extended Education Centre was opened in 2001 to facilitate the implementation of the school’s programme for pupils aged 16-19 years. Two further classrooms were added in 2009 to facilitate the increasing demand for places. A purpose-built Nursery Unit was opened in 2003 to provide specialist nursery education for young children exhibiting developmental delay and/or traits associated with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
