Ruth Educational Academy for Changing Horizons Inc
The seed of the school was actually planted many years ago, when a 9 year old girl had her first encounter with a special person. This 9 year old, who would later become Teacher Elma E. Ruth, met someone with Down's syndrome, was fascinated, and told her mother that she wanted to help or teach others who were different than herself. Fast forward thirty years and Teacher Elma has been teaching now for many years. She has reached her goal of teaching special children, but something was missing. In the summer of 2012, Teacher Elma and her husband, Barry, decided to attempt to put up a full school devoted to nothing else but SpEd. During the latter half of 2012 a search was made for a suitable location. By December of that year a site was located in Vista Verde Executive Village and plans were made to obtain all of the necessary permits. The process of obtaining all of the licenses and approvals is a story in itself, but early in 2013, Ruth Educational Academy for Changing Horizons (REACH) Inc. was born.
