I AM Special Education Society
I AM Special Education Society is a non profit making organisation which aims at “Empowering those who learn differently” by providing educational services to children with special needs, in particular, those with intellectual and multiple disabilities such as Down syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Spine Bifida, and other developmental delays. We offer different programmes with the main objective of promoting self help skills and other life skills necessary for the betterment of the students with special needs. In this regard, the students are offered basic academics and pre-vocational skills which involve some of the following: Gardening Basic Home Economics lessons( e.g. basic cooking, bed making, bead making, basic sewing) Self help skills (e.g. being taught general basic hygiene) Environmental education (e.g. taking care of the school surroundings and doing general cleaning) School educational excursions (e.g. cultural trips, nature reserve trips and site seeing ) Physical Education (e.g. engaging in various sporting activities and field events) Computer awareness Art and Music (both traditional and contemporary)
